All this is a really roundabout way of saying that if you took Joel and removed the ruthlessness and killing innocents and the lying father figure aspects of him and just kept Ellie's jumping-into-rapids-when-she-can't-swim protectiveness, that's how she feels about Hank. She wants to give him more reasons to keep on smiling ("so you do have a laugh") and has resolved to do her damn best to make sure what happened to Gulgallana doesn't happen again, ever. She feels generally kind of guilty and unworthy of his kindness all the time, even though it makes her really really R E A L L Y happy. Yeah, Kyriakos is a bad place too and it exposes them all to the same, terrible shit, but Clover is very dead set on believing herself not to be a good person. She feels very strongly about the Cats and how they're a liability and shouldn't be forgiven, and here Ed goes and saves one during the game. Saves the one who SHOT HIM, and then lets her STAY OVER in their dorm. It's like he followed a step by step guide on how to super efficiently piss Clover off.
So to say it will take time is kind of an understatement. I don't joke when I say Clover forgives, but she doesn't forget. She's very good at holding onto every little offense she's experienced. And she brings them up like weapons to make sure other people don't forget either. And she just. Needs time. A lot of time, to calm down and let things settle and maybe then she'll start talking to him without any prompting. But as of right now, she wants nothing to do with him and part of her staying at other dorms for the night is full out avoidance. CLOVER IS SO ANGRY AT HERSELF FOR MAKING FRIENDS WITH TAKS YOU HAVE NO IDEA. And not only that she made friends with the two who tortured her and the one she went off and p. much got tortured for. I NEED TO PREFACE WITH THAT cuz Clover has never liked Tak for their martyr-y ways and now she's FRIENDS with some and she wants to do stupid things like PROTECT THEM and oh god why.
But!! She really . . . adores Hope. Like, a lot. He actually cares and he asked her about things and he showed CONCERN and the easiest way to endear oneself to Clover is to show genuine emotion towards her. Like, she doesn't get it because she doesn't feel like she deserves it ever but?? People care?? This tiny Tak cares?!?!
Also he's a healer he automatically gets like 1000+ points because she has a strong bias towards the magic types. Once she's less angry and less everything she totally wants to sit down with him and discuss magic and how does yours work why is revival spells a thing omg tell me more.
