SPOILERS: COMET IS NOT NEARLY AS CHILL AS HE APPEARS.
His face is just one that kind of makes it easier to bullshit his expressions with sometimes.
For the most part, Comet's been getting himself through the GM game, the lashings, and the whole thing with Nyssa and fallout by just reminding himself again and again that he has to make things right for his world that got exploded. Because his little sister is a part of that world and if he doesn't fix it, then his little sister is... dead? Gone? NO LONGER IN EXISTENCE? and he can't stomach that at all.
He clings a lot to his starter memory because it's really what keeps him from slipping off the edge--which is in fact where he was at all through the GM game. He had no idea what was going on, who to trust--for a bit there, he wasn't even sure about TIAMAT other than the fact that the same color = incentive for them to at least not bring him harm? But the GM game was very much a steep learning curve that has made Comet 100% dedicated to Tiamat, mostly because they seem so close-knit and very protective of each other. It's something very reassuring and something that Comet feels like he can depend on.
Exceeeept... he fucked up. He fucked up. And he got himself caught up in a deal with Nyssa. In a way, the whole thing with the deal kind of makes Comet feel like he's fucked up too badly and is now in a position where he can't... be trusted. Even by Tiamat. And that kind of hurts? But also he did it to himself and he's 100% sticking to his conviction on that one, even if it's... a stupid one. But it does feel like he puts the entire team at risk now--he's a ticking timebomb of something terrible happening and possibility his team having to put him down if they can't stop him. Which, right now, he completely 100% believes it should be no problem for them to stop him.
Except Nyssa said she'd cash in later and he doesn't know what his own past is all about (leet assassin-fighter who's electrical power is actually the power to change things on a molecular level. o-orz). He also doesn't understand the whole thing about shadows and whatnot, though Ed tried to explain it some. (Spoilers: his shadow would probably have a LOT of contractor attributes, which means cold rationality and logic and no emotions, but I have no idea because he might develop differently in Kyr.)
So that's hanging over his head, the fact that he's a ticking timebomb of danger for Tiamat. And possibly and unwitting spy for Nyssa as well. Which is why he stated he doesn't want to be included in any talks about Nyssa. Which, again, is further distancing himself from his team--so he feels anyway.
And Hei's always been the sort to keep a tight lid on his emotions, so Comet himself has trouble talking to others about it. Ed's actually talked with him some, and Comet feels comfortable enough with him to let onto some of the thoughts bouncing around in his head, but overall right now, he's just trying to keep it together because he can't really stand the thought of Tiamat having to be worried about him anymore? Because they've worried about him so much in the GM game but then he went and... made a deal with Nyssa. For another team.
Beyond that, Comet very much is paranoid and borderline distrusting with other teams. He took to heart what was said in the GM game and the teams/colors that they protected. He currently sees the teams they protected in the game as Possibly Trustworthy/Likely To Be Friends and everyone else as Other. Which is kind of unfair of him? But until he gets to know people on his own, that's the baseline he's sticking with.
Ditto with the Cats. Ed or Ochre (I forget who) told him to keep in mind that the Cats weren't in control of themselves during the GM game, and that's... sort of mitigated a lot of flat-out distrust and anger at Cats in general? Though he is still wary because he doesn't know which Cats are out of Nyssa's control or even if that will last very long. He IS, however, not at all ready to deal with Sparkler. At all. Nope. Will not. Cannot make him. So, in that way, Clover saved him from having to deal with that THE DAY AFTER THE FUCKING GM GAME, and he's really really relieved and grateful for that. Even if he wasn't there to see it.
Comet's just never going to be okay with his team getting hurt/in trouble because of him. And the whole deal with Nyssa is going to be a nightmare for him because of that. They worked SO HARD to try to help him get his bearings and keep him safe that he feels obligated and just a personal WANT to do the same for them--it just might also mean protecting them from himself. Which... sucks...
But again: he at least has the memory of stargazing with his little sister to keep him from completely losing it while he's still reeling from GM-fallout.
The big thing is when GM game started, she was still . . . recovering from the last week plus. Red Yaksinis' game, remembering Maias being alive, her team shuffling around. There were a lot if distractions in there and a good chunk of dealing with those things, but still she wasn't over it. So GM game came and she was already somewhat stressed and that just amped it up to 11.
I keep saying she's livid and that's . . . really the best word for how she feels. She's so upset and angry that she's prone to exploding at any moment, and in everyone's best interests she's keeping her distance from the people she's angry with. Because while she's SUPER FUCKING ANGRY she's aware of it and she just. Wants to calm down to a point where she can be reasonable again. Her threat towards Cats was a huge starting point, because she is completely serious about it and she's very aware of what it means for the future.
But like I said, she's angry and UPSET. Upset that her team was hurt, upset at the various things they've done (deals with Nyssa, letting Cats stay at the dorm), and while she has her outlets, it isn't enough. I mean it's so bad she went to visit Kaito, who she refused to visit beforehand because she's angry and hurt about THAT (that's a whole 'nother bag of worms though). She doesn't know what to do with herself except just. Hope she gets over it. But she knows she won't, at least not as quickly as she wishes, and she doesn't know what else she should do other than just shut down completely. Which she's sort of close to doing because she's so tired of being upset and angry and on the verge of exploding.
Eventually she'll seek out the usual people she confides in and eventually calm down, but for now she's just . . . keeping to herself. It's better for everyone and she knows how she is, she just needs time to settle. LET HER SETTLE KYRIAKOS.
