Hope really, really, really likes Clover. She actually kind of reminds him of Lightning - and Lightning is that one person he absolutely looks up to in the games because he really admires her strength and courage. That applies to Clover! He admires her so much and also, she was there when he was scared and unsure and he didn't know how to handle the bad stuff. She showed him a little kindness and he latched onto it and didn't let go.
He feels awful for the torture thing still and he actually keeps replaying it over and over and over again in his head because he tried so hard to keep it from being that bad but he would always mess up and he's amazed that Clover even still wants to talk to him in the first place. He really wants to try to make it up to her but he's not sure how and he has nightmares about it EVERY SINGLE NIGHT. He cares so much about Clover, though. :( He really values her opinion and what she thinks and wants her to be well and she is kind of in the Mom Slot so please don't die like his mom did Clover—
ALSO TALKING ABOUT MAGIC, while he wouldn't mind, would also make him hesitate a little 'cause he's a l'Cie and while he doesn't think Clover knows what a l'Cie is he'd be scared that she'd treat him like every other person except the Main Party of FFXIII and his mom have treated him, which was pretty awful due to Pulse fear. His feelings are largely mixed and she'd probably end up seeing that. :C
