tl;dr HE SORT OF SHUTS DOWN EMOTIONALLY because of everything that happens at the end of FC and the ten years following. It's part maturing/part adjusting/part coping with all of it. DOFP doesn't go into it all that much but there's one scene where he's explaining what happened with Charles and it's. Kinda obvious that Things Have Changed. And Nick Hoult discussed it in an interview and it made me sad.
It's possible!! He'd feel bad about it afterwards because he's Hank Dorkface but I would love to see how something like that would play out. Also yes to sharing memories and opening up!! Hank doesn't open up often but he trusts Viva enough to do it with her - which is interesting considering their age difference but he doesn't. Really think of her as a kid all that often even if he calls her a brat.

Prrrobably the most likely way they would argue would be if Viva did something like what Fade did in GM; "I'm gonna handle this so you don't have to", which may or may not actually become a feasible thing for her, depending on what other stuff future trauma games hold for her/her Important People. HFFF!! YOU'RE NOT THAT MUCH OLDER THAN HER ANYWAY, HANK. at least. NOT THAT YOU REMEMBER!!!!!
lol giving David his But like, I am partly super excited to give her that one back, but at the same time I am tempted to just leave it locked foreverrrr!!! Her teammates' reactions would be p. amazing and it was necessary growth for her character buuut it also kind of broke the Ellie that we knew prior to that, y'know; she lost something then and it never came back to her. So it's an exciting memory to consider, for shock factor and development, just. Also one I will have to pick veeeery carefully so as not to break Viva AND break any teammates who pick that shard up. Breaking David's finger is also up there, bc it's got all the badass Ellie without the traumatic "he tried to—" and full-scale tragedy.
A less horrible memory I want to give her back really badly is kissing Riley. Just because I want everyone (including herself) to find out just how gay she is. She hinted at Hank that she leans that-a-way in that closet thread but she never really affirmed it and it since slipped her mind kind of because... everything else happening in Kyr rn, so I wanna drop that bomb and see how unsurprised literally all of her CR is.
Is Hank prepared for the big brotherly role that is giving her advice on how to woo girls.
no you should watch FC and DOFP because they are the best and Hank has some COOL MOMENTS and he supposedly has an even bigger role in apocalypse!!!
