52. "The next time you feel need to use your magic, please just . . . use it over there, away from me." ★ (Neutral Trivial)
They're on their way back to the capital when they come across a random encounter of monsters - fairly normal, all things considered, and especially considering the way they're returning. It also helps in a way, since some of them have some steam to blow off and killing monsters is the best stress release. That, and Tempest wants to see their new party member in action anyway.
Eeeeexcept . . . it doesn't occur to her until too late that he uses dark magic, primarily, and by the time the (fairly short) fight is over, she has to excuse herself to go be sick in the woods. Nobody except Baelvan understands why, of course, and Moadan approaches to ask if she was hurt in the fight.
Entirely unimpressed with herself, and still leaning against the tree feeling ill, she makes a vague gesture behind Moadan. "The next time you feel need to use your magic, please just . . . use it over there, away from me." Catching on, Moadan apologizes for not realizing it sooner and promises not to use his magic anywhere near her.
What she learned:
- DARK MAGIC STILL SUCKS
- but at least it isn't instantly deadly like ENCHANTED RINGS
- it just makes her miserably sick, great
