her request makes him pause, and he almost, almost argues again because he doesn't want her to watch him die, he doesn't want her to be the last one alive, and that's what he's pretty sure she's going to do.
...but in the end he hands it over. BUT ONLY BECAUSE he's also looking her straight in the eyes as he does, and telling her:]
I don't blame you. You are not to blame yourself.
[he will make very many faces at her if he catches her doing it]
[she hesitates when he hands it over, biting her lip to stifle the argument that wants to spill out. Because she is absolutely going to blame herself. It isn't like he's not going to blame himself either.
She leans in to kiss him, briefly, and rests a hand on the side of his neck. Her free hand clenches around the quill]
I will try not to.
[so she lies instead and, before he can respond, jabs the quill right into the side of his neck, where she knows it'll hit something vital and make his death quick]
[his kiss in return is a little desperate, he doesn't want to die, he doesn't want to die.
and then there's a sharp cry of shock and pain, and his hand clutches at her tightly and it hurts but at least it's a lot quicker than the last time this happened and he goes limp almost instantaneously]
[this is why you should let your girlfriend do things, like killing. She's very good at it.
She lowers him to the ground, carefully, and stays kneeling. She doesn't hesitate when she shoves the quill into her own neck next - because she's not watching his last moments, she's not going to give herself time to change her mind and wait for something worse, nope.
So, it isn't long until she's dead too, collapsed next to him]
