Kyriakos | Memory 44

44. Telling her father she wants to become a mage ☀ (Significant Positive)

Tempest is about 7 in this memory! Being the daddy’s girl she is, she’s following him around while he does the daily chores around their home, helping where she can and asking him all manner of questions (Mostly “Why do you have to do this?” and etc). Finally, they come around to the back and her father is trying to light a fire. Aurae, confused, asks him why he doesn’t use his magic - he knows how to make fire, so he should use it, right?

Her father laughs and explains that magic shouldn’t be depended upon for daily tasks like this. But after a moment, he winks at her and uses his magic anyway, lighting the fire. Aurae, super pleased, tells him that one day, she wants to be a mage just like him. And that she’s been practicing her magic as often as she could (she’s being careful!) and that even if mother doesn’t want her to, she’ll do it anyway.

Utterly pleased, her father tells her that she can become whatever she wishes to be, and that if her mother allows it, he’d teach her the rest of his magic himself - but under one condition. She had to learn her mother’s magic, too, because while his magic was impressive, Aurae’s mother’s magic was far more important and helpful, as she was a healer back when she practiced.

Aurae, excited, agrees.

What she remembered:
- She wanted to be like her father when she was little! What a daddy's girl
- She knew her mother had been a healer, but she didn't know how it came about that her mother taught her that magic until now
- Okay so that's where she gets the "don't use magic unless you have to" mentality
- There's a vague impression of WHY she wants to be like her father - a vague story that goes along with that want - but that's another memory
- At some point her mother stopped practicing her magic?
- A million happy parents feelings
