Kyriakos | Memory 39

Lord Bourdet's visit ★ (Neutral Neutral)

This memory starts out with Tempest peeking into an inn room on Maias, and entirely surprised to find another man in there. She doesn't know why, but Maias had been seriously injured and he had been given the single room to recover in. She knows this man to be Maias' brother, but his name escapes her at the moment.

He notices her and leaves the room to thank her for coming to get him - she had done something nice for Maias, apparently? And the two moved to the room she and her cousin were sharing to talk privately.

As it turns out, he knows more about her than she likes - her name, who she is to Maias, and what Maias has done to her. Regardless he's nothing like his older brother; he's polite and genuine, thanking her for saving his life (?) and caring for him (?!?!), and for not seeking revenge upon him for his crimes.

She has no idea how to respond to him, but she says that if she's to kill him, it'll be after the stupid prophecy they're all forced to fulfill. That seems to be enough for the man, and as if he's forgetting introduces himself properly - Lord Merek Bourdet, and Tempest realizes he's one of the most influential nobles in Carmathen.

He tells her that he will assist in any way he can, and that he has his own men out looking for any the creatures (?!) responsible for what happened to Maias. He also says that he has men keeping an eye on the inn they're in, just in case, given that they are down a member of their group and Hadrian had closed the inn for them.

Merek knows about the prophecy, though, and he offers some advice - and claims that he's helping search for their next destination, although she's wary since not even she and Maias really know where it is. (What their "destination" is is blocked out for the memory)

They spend a good amount of time talking, before Merek excuses himself to go sit with his brother. But before he leaves, he offers Tempest some information to show his gratitude -

The location of her father's parents.

Completely blown away, she barely manages to take the piece of paper with the location on it and utter a thank you before Merek is smiling, bowing politely, and leaving to head back down the hallway.

The memory ends with her sitting heavily on the bed, staring at the paper.

What she learned:
- Maias had been seriously injured by - something?
- She had gone to Maias' brother for . . . some reason that isn't clear in this memory.
- His name is Merek Bourdet, and he's a very influential noble in Carmathen. (She briefly realizes that he's the man controlling the captain of the knights, oshi)
- He knows who she is, what Maias did to her, etc.
- He is nothing like Maias either - he's genuine and polite, and while she's wary of him, it isn't to the extent she's wary of Maias.
- He's essentially helping them without directly getting involved.
- Okay wait he's giving her information on her family.
- She has more family.
- WAIT A DAMN MINUTE WHAT PROPHECY?!
- ?!?!?!?!?!!
- There are a lot of things hinted at in this memory, but nothing directly stating what the hell she and her cousin are doing working with Maias or the others.
- tl;dr what the fuck is going on.
