Kyriakos | Memory 37
The War ★ (Significant Neutral)
Timeline wise, this memory starts after this and ends right before this!
This is a montage memory, though, which really fills in the spots between the more significant memories she has. In total, it takes place over the course of over a year and a half. And since it's easier to do bullet-points than giant blocks a text that's what's gonna happen.
- LOTS OF TRAVELING. While the trip from the capital to Drow territory is only six days on foot, the group she's with travels all over the country recruiting men who have yet to be recruited by the knights. This takes around 4-5 months in total! And leads up to this memory.
- There's more battles afterwards, albeit smaller and more carefully plotted out. Given that, they win them far more often, and every so often take prisoners in order to get information. MOST of the time this comes up with nothing. (There is a gap here, though, since she does have a memory in her registry waiting)
- They spend a lot of time going around Drow encampments too. This involves a lot of mountain climbing and hiding/camping in caves and it's utterly miserable the colder it gets. Especially when winter hits, as it's already cold/winter-y year round up north.
- LOTS OF DEATH. On both sides. Tempest ends up using her healing magic more often in this year and a half than she did the last 10 years of her life, so much so that she even starts using spells she's not touched since she was still an apprentice.
- A FEW ALMOST DEATHS. Less so as the the memory montage goes on but Tempest is very . . . hm. Uncaring if she dies or not. The closer she grows to her cousin and uncle though, the less this happens. (Another blank space here due to a memory waiting)
- SHE TAKES UP WEARING ARMOR. Which she's never done before in the past, actually. A breastplate with a chainmail shirt underneath, and steel paudrons on her right shoulder, since she fights primarily left-handed with her sword.
- She also grows out her hair! Since there's . . . no reason she has to hide who she is anymore. She also starts dying it a brown color rather than black (if only because she screwed up a batch of dye like a derp)
- A few times they jump into the bigger battles with the knights to help out, since her and Baelvan are both distance fighters (magic and archer). But the group as a whole tries to avoid them for the most part.
- They have very little contact with anyone back at the capital since they're working under their own orders.
- WAR THINGS. Since it was a war.
- Relationship-wise, a slow, growing relationship with her uncle, and an even closer one with her cousin. She comes to really adore Baelvan to the point that in the few moments of peace they do have, they spend a lot of time just. Talking about their lives. Which is difficult on Tempest's part, but she tries. (There's yet another blank space or two here for memories)
- Personally, Tempest grows a lot. She ends up trusting the men she's traveling with, her remaining her family, and even starts putting some trust in herself. Her self-worth gets a tiny bit better, and that pesky death wish doesn't go away COMPLETELY but it isn't a priority by the time they're well into the war.
