I would think it would be a bit funnier given our, ah - actual professions.

[but okay let's be in character again]

It seems Mr. Inalie has quite the questionable past with our departed Mr. Phil. It makes his character wholly suspicious. Unless we can find someone with a more. . . ah, "believable" motive, Finn may attempt to pin the crime on me.

[hyanaimne]

Well then . . .

We could always pin it on Finn herself. She said that Phil told her most everything . . . we could twist that a bit, yes?

[carptricks]

We could, yes. There were no recent pictures of the dearly departed Phil's children on the fireplace mantle, either. So perhaps they had a falling out?

[hyanaimne]

It is always possible, yes. That or the other man - who was he, his business partner?

[carptricks]

Aaah, that's right. He did suggest that we split up rather quickly.

[hyanaimne]

Mm. He did not even pretend to grieve.

[lowering his voice, dropping the act again]

At any rate, those sound like excellent scapegoats. We shouldn't attempt to implicate them right away, of course. We need to wait for the opportune moment.

[pauses, peering at her thoughtfully]

. . . and my dear Mr. Graves, I don't think I ever asked you what your story is.

[hyanaimne]

Well, yes, of course. Not unless we have to, either . . . for now.

[she raises both eyebrows, head tilting]

I am not certain what you mean.

[carptricks]

Your motive. People will be asking for it, and we'll need to ensure that it doesn't make you suspicious.

[hyanaimne]

He is family, yes? We may not have seen eye to eye in the past, but that does not mean I would kill him over something, especially years later.

[she even says it with a straight face. Someone's getting used to these roleplaying games]
