6. Meeting Maias ☀ (Significant Neutral)
So urgent word gets back to the village that their hunters found a young man in the woods who is seriously injured. Tempest - Aurae in this memory - has been working with the healer as an apprentice for some time now, and quickly gets to work helping prepare their hut for the group's arrival.
The young man is conscious when they bring him in, but being that Aurae's village is an Elven-speaking village, many of them don't understand the young man, as he speaks the capital's tongue - or Common. Aurae does, though - her father speaks it, and taught it to her as she grew up, because you never knew when it would be needed. So she plays translator between the young man and the healers, all while using her magic to help out.
Her brief, quick translations between them turns to idle conversation after that, to keep him awake and to help calm him some - questions about where he came from (the capital), how did you end up out here (travel), what happened (attacked by bandits) . . . and some laughter, when his wounds are not nearly as serious as first thought, and he praises the gods and the healers for their hard work.
After he's cleaned up and left to rest, he stops Aurae when she's about to leave and tells her that he hasn't introduced himself. He's a charming, grandios sort of person, and despite how weak he is he still gestures grandly and tells her his name is Maias. After Aurae returns the introduction, he tells her that her name suits her.
She ends up staying instead of leaving to keep him company, talking about nonsense until he falls asleep.
What she learned:
- She's a little older in this memory than the last - 14 or so.
- While she's still an apprentice, she gets the feeling that this is after her coming of age; she's treated less like help and more like a healer herself by the others.
- Confirmation that she can speak the two main languages in her world
- Maias is much older than she thought - he's well into his adulthood in this memory.
- So this is how they met? But in the other memory he didn't call her by her real name??
