[lowers the bottle, taking a moment to blink and look at her vaguely.]

Is it still morning?

[blinks back]

Ah . . . I do not know.

I certainly do not care.

Drinking in the morning... if it's still morning. Doesn't matter, since it's already done.

It is like . . . like we got a late start to drinking at night.

... that sounds reasonable.

Besides, we are adults. We can do what we want.

I'll drink to that.

[holds up her bottle]

[clinks his against hers]

[does the adult thing and starts downing the bottle.]

[that sounds like an excellent adult thing to do]

[absolutely. never mind how astoundingly drunk they already are.]

[this is our version of coping]

[well if I stopped before reaching the bottom that would be failing.]

[well I'm not stopping until that point]

[me either. slowing down a bit on the way, but still drinking.]

[nope, still going. Demolishing this bottle like a champ]

[finally draining the last few mouthfuls, and thunking the bottle down on the couch. hiccups slightly, and takes a few breaths.]

That was... a lot.

[finishes a few moments after him with a gasp]

That . . . mm. Quite a bit.

[even turning to look at her makes him reel a little]

Wasn't bad though.

Nn-nn . . . not at all.

[sets down her bottle, then fwumps back against the back of the couch with a happy sigh]

This's... the drunkest I've been. I think.

[fumbles for his sleeve, tugs on it for him to lean back too]

Is that bad?

I think it'd be bad if I stood.
