27. Let's make a deal ★ (Neutral Neutral)
This memory takes place about a week or so after this; her hand is still throbbing, heavily bandaged rather than healed because Tempest hardly ever bothers with wasting magic on herself.
Narrative here!
What she learned:
- Even a week later she's still livid over what happened
- She's determined to make him pay for what happpened to her, but she's kind of second-guessing herself at first
- Oops nevermind she's going to threaten someone much bigger than her
- And apparently get her way??
- Except he was going to try to kill her so she pinned his hand to the desk with her dagger..........
- She . . . got her way . . .
- Almost dying was enough to shake her, very briefly, into considering regretting what she did. But only consider
28. Spending nearly the entire winter ill ☀ (Trivial Negative)
This is more of a montage memory! Aurae is about 8 in this, and before the first snowfall of the winter she falls very, very ill. It's on and off - though she literally has to spend the next three months inside, because it's either too cold for her to go out or the illness is keeping her in bed. She spends a lot of time reading and sleeping; the books are either adventure stories or books about magic and how to use it, etc.
There's one particular part of this montage where Aurae asks her mother why she always gets sick in winter, and more importantly, is always sick for her birthday. Her mother explains that when she gave birth Aurae came far too early, and that they almost lost her a number of times, since she was born right in the middle of winter. She goes on to explain that because of that, Aurae's ability to fend off illness is weak, though she goes on to assure her daughter that she'll grow out of it.
tl;dr spending the entire winter sick sucks
What she learned:
- When she was young she got sick super easily in the winter
- And especially so this winter
- This particular winter hit really hard; if they weren't snowed into their home, they were huddling up because the temperature had dropped very low
- Oh so she has read silly adventure stories like the ones she's read with Kaito
- In modern terms, Aurae was born two months early! So her immune system's pretty weak, and that's why she gets sick every winter
- Her birthday! It's 9 days before the end of the human year (December 22 in our calendar)
- It also explains why she's so suseptible to cold
