Kyriakos | Memory 26
● "But why can't I talk to the other boys?" ☀ (Neutral Trivial)
It's one of those rare days where Aurae doesn't have any duties at the healer's, and one of those rare days where she decides to play with the other kids in the village - mostly the boys, because she's a tomboy and prefers their games over the dolls the girls play with. She's talking with a few of the boys there, joking and generally have a fun time, when another, older boy interrupts - Eir, someone she's known since she was little, and who is about to turn sixteen. He's half-elf like her, and their parents are very close.
When she agrees he takes her hand and practically drags her somewhere private. When they're alone he tells her that she shouldn't talk so easily with other boys, and that why doesn't she play with the girls instead, or hey, you like to read, don't you? Why don't you do that? It doesn't come off mean, but Aurae is still a little offended, and very confused, as this is out of nowhere.
"But why can't I talk to the other boys?" Is her demand. She goes onto explain that playing with the girls is boring, and that if she felt like reading she'd be doing that. But it's a nice day, and she wants to play with the rest of the boys like she always does, it isn't a big deal, Eir.
Embarrassed, Eir tells her that it's because they're betrothed. That's it, that's his answer.
Aurae just rolls her eyes and tells him in no uncertain terms that being jealous is ridiculous, and why would that be a big deal if she wasn't interested in marriage in the first place? (Something he apparently knew already). She tells him flat out that regardless of if they're betrothed or not, she'll do what she likes to do, and if he doesn't like it, then to find another girl to marry.
Apparently he's used to her brief flashes of attitude, because he just sighs and lets her walk off to go play with the other boys again.
What she learned:
- She's betrothed to a young man named Eir! She knew she was betrothed, but this is the first time she remembers his name or what he looks like.
- She's about thirteen in this memory
- Eir is SUPER JEALOUS of her talking to other boys
- She SUPER DOESN'T CARE if he is or isn't
- Marriage is uninteresting and while she likes Eir she doesn't want to marry him
- Oh she had a temper when she was young too that explains a lot
